Porcelain Veneers Correct Multiple Imperfections
Dental veneers provide something of a smile do-over for people who need more help improving the appearance of their smiles than simple whitening can provide. Thin coverings made of dental porcelain, veneers correct the size, shape, and overall visual effect of the teeth that show when you smile. Porcelain is one of the most natural-looking materials for dental veneers.
Porcelain veneers can correct…
Slight gaps between the teeth
Severely stained or discolored teeth
Uneven, oddly shaped, or crooked teeth
Broken or chipped teeth
What is the Procedure Like?
At Dentistry @ 1881, porcelain veneers are completed over the course of two visits to our dental office. Local anesthesia is available for your complete comfort at each step of the veneer procedure.
The first appointment is reserved for treatment planning and preparation of your teeth. It is a minimally-invasive procedure that requires the removal of a small amount of tooth enamel to make room for each veneer to lie flat within the smile. Temporary veneers cover the prepared teeth in the time between appointments.
During the second appointment, your lab fabricated veneers manufactured in a separate lab are ready for placement. After removing your temporary veneers, your dentist will check to make sure your new veneers look just like they should. Each veneer is securely placed onto the surface of the tooth with a special bonding agent.
When cared for properly, porcelain veneers can be expected to last for a decade or more. Protect the dental porcelain with a mouthguard for nighttime teeth grinding or during contact sports. Continue to brush and floss the teeth as directed for healthy teeth and gums.
